Breast Lift

Breasts that have lost elasticity and shape due to the effects of pregnancy, nursing, weight fluctuence, ageing and gravity can be improved through breast lift/mastopexy. In this procedure the nipple/areola complex, which has dropped is repositioned and the excess skin is removed to both cone and shape the breasts. This procedure can also be done in combination with insertion of implant also called augmentation mastopexy.
Who is a candidate?
Breasts of any size can be lifted however, the heavier, large breasted women will tend to have more scarring and the procedure may not be as long lasting. Risks include bleeding, infection, change in nipple sensation and unsightly scarring. There can also be problems with asymmetry and at time revisional surgery may be required. While breast lifting does not usually effect breast function, changes in the breasts that occur during pregnancy can minimize or revere the improvement. Likewise, significant weight fluctuations can also affect the final result.
