Gluteal Artery Perforator Flap (SGAP Flap)
Gluteal Artery Perforator Flap (SGAP Flap) is a breast reconstruction procedure used on patients who do not have the ample abdominal tissue to donate for breast reconstruction. When such is the case, our plastic surgeons use tissue from the buttocks area. In addition to the SGAP Flap procedures, the buttocks tissue is also used in the IGAP procedure. The difference is that the SGAP procedure uses the superior (upper) gluteal artery vs. using the posterior portion of the button in an IGAP procedure.
Our doctors at New York Breast Plastic Surgeons in New York are experienced physicians, artists in their field. When performing plastic and cosmetic surgery, especially breast reconstruction, they take extra measures not only to recreate and reshape your breast as it was before, but also to make donor area incisions as conspicuous as possible. Incisions for a Gluteal Artery Perforator Flap are made in areas that may be hidden by a French cut bikini or underwear.
